Writerly Places 4: the Shadow of a Bird

shadow of a bird

This beautiful place is in Coorg, South India. Made for writers. A small square table for your notebook and coffee. Two empty chairs on either side of you – and I do mean empty.

A bright, sunny, holiday morning, with hours stretching leisurely ahead, and the fresh green all around. Sometimes the shadow of a bird falling across your page – hornbills in the trees overhead or a kingfisher like a blue arrow flying towards the lake.

Mostly it’s just you and the wind in the trees, distant birdcall and most important of all – the almost unheard scratching of your pen on paper or the silent tapping of keys.

What better way to fill a quiet morning than a green garden in which to dance uninhibited with words.
